Managed public-source watch

Online course piracy monitoring

Scheduled review of agreed public sources for one flagship course or a defined catalogue.

Monitoring is not omniscience. Rightsward watches public and publicly indexed locations inside an agreed perimeter. Private groups, passworded shares and material behind access controls stay out of scope.

A one-off search answers whether a leak is visible today. Monitoring answers whether known public locations return, whether new public listings appear, and whether last week’s finding is still live. That is the work most academy teams drop after the first screenshot.

What is monitored

The perimeter is set after the free audit and written into the service agreement. Typical coverage for a founding engagement includes:

  • Public video, social and community pages that name or reproduce the protected work.
  • Publicly indexed file-host and shared-drive listing pages.
  • Known URLs already recorded in the case file.
  • New public listings that match the official course title, instructor or distinctive curriculum language.

Each finding is compared with the official sales page and other public product details you supply. A title match remains a lead until structure, language or instructor identity supports verification.

How the watch is run

Scheduled sweeps

Rightsward searches the agreed public sources on a defined cadence rather than waiting for another student report. New candidates are logged with URL, observation time and the visible match rationale.

Known-location checks

After a public listing has been documented — and, if authorised, after a notice has been submitted — Rightsward rechecks that location. Reappearance is recorded as a new observation, not assumed to be resolved.

Human classification

Machine-suggested matches are not treated as verified. A named reviewer decides whether the public page is a candidate, a verified exposure, a hold or out of scope. Ambiguous commentary, possible licensed use and incomplete listings stay on hold.

Weekly status

Clients receive a findings and case-status update: what was newly observed, what remains live, what is waiting on authority and what is outside the perimeter. Views and download counts are not converted into lost-sales figures.

What monitoring produces

  • A dated ledger of public findings for the covered work.
  • Evidence records that can support later platform response.
  • A clear list of locations still live after previous action.
  • A written record of sources that were checked and produced nothing.

What monitoring will not do

  • Enter private Telegram groups, Discord servers or paid communities.
  • Bypass passwords, access controls or private shares.
  • Guarantee that every public copy will be found.
  • File notices without written authority and a verified rights inventory.
  • Present administrative monitoring as legal advice.

How to start

Begin with the free audit. If the public-source yield and rights position support ongoing work, monitoring is scoped month to month for one flagship course or a defined catalogue. Broader portfolios are quoted against an agreed perimeter.
